COUNSELOR'S CORNER - FINANCIAL AID AND FAFSA

COLLEGE STUDENTS AND PARENTS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE 2017-18 FAFSA

Seniors! Don't Forget to File Your FAFSA!

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be filed in order for students to be eligible for Federal Student Aid following high school. Parents of high school seniors may submit the FAFSA on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  If you're filing as a dependent, both you and one parent must sign.  To create a new FSA ID (replaces the PIN) required for electronically signing the online FAFSA, go to https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm.

The information entered on the FAFSA enables qualified students to be eligible for Federal Student Aid programs such as Pell Grants, Supplemental Grants (FSEOG), Loan Programs (such as FFEL and Perkins Loans), Institutional Aid Programs, and Work Study Programs.

Parents who need assistance with the FAFSA may contact the college/university the student plans to attend. Parents may also contact the counseling office at 702-799-6699 X4300 to sign up for one of Shadow Ridge’s onsite FAFSA workshops.

Parents: Completion of the FAFSA is REQUIRED in order for qualified students to be eligible for the programs mentioned above. It is also required for acceptance into most Colleges and Universities.
